Isotopologues School (IsoSchool 2026)

After a successful inaugural IsoSchool at the 2024 Goldschmidt, we are pleased to announce the second series of IsoSchool (2026), organised in coordination with the 10th International Clumped Isotope Workshop (ICIW10).

IsoSchool is a two-day short course dedicated to training and knowledge exchange in isotopologue geochemistry. The aim of the school is to provide a series of lectures and tutorials focused on analytical and methodological developments. It is designed primarily for early-career researchers (Master’s students, PhD candidates, and post-doctoral fellows), as well as laboratory technicians and scientists seeking to deepen their understanding of isotopologue measurement and data processing.

IsoSchool 2026, which will take place at Utrecht University (Netherlands) on June 22–23, 2026, immediately preceding the 10th International Clumped Isotope Workshop (ICIW) (June 24–26, 2026).

IsoSchool 2026 aims to address the existing gap in disseminating knowledge on stable isotope geochemistry, particularly focusing on isotopologues of simple molecules containing rare heavy isotopes of elements.
IsoSchool 2026 will be organised into four thematic sessions, each consisting of lectures and open discussions:

> Carbonate (Dual) Clumped Isotopes – Analytical principles, corrections, standardisation in Δ₄₇/Δ₄₈ measurements.
> Atmospheric Clumped Isotopes – Laser versus Mass Spectrometry methods in clumped isotope measurements.
> Triple Oxygen Isotopes – Analytical methods, standardisation/calibration strategies and challenges.
> Industry & Instrumentation Session – Presentations by instrument manufacturers and companies for isotopologue analysis.
